Bio:

Dr. King attended Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN as an Ingram Scholar where she received her Bachelor of Science (BS) degree. As an undergraduate student she participated in an Honors Research Program in which she studied the effects of stress and pain in children with sickle cell disease. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa, summa cum laude, with Honors in Child Development, and she received the Founder’s Medal for graduating first in her class at Peabody College of Vanderbilt. Dr. King then moved to California for medical school and received her Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from UCSF.

As a medical student Dr. King had the opportunity to do an internship with Dr. Dean Ornish at the Preventive Medicine Research Institute in Sausalito. She also was awarded two Dean’s Student Research Fellowships to study stress and waist circumference and to conduct a sleep hygiene intervention in obese children under the mentorship of Dr. Robert Lustig. It was Dr. King’s experience as a Medical Volunteer at Bearskin Meadow Camp (for children with diabetes) that solidified her commitment to a career in pediatric endocrinology. Dr. King completed her internship and second year of pediatrics residency at Kaiser Permanente – Northern California in Oakland, and she finished her final year of pediatrics residency at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in Torrance. She stayed at Harbor-UCLA for her fellowship in Pediatric Endocrinology and Metabolism.

As a fellow Dr. King volunteered each summer at Camp Conrad Chinnock, a camp for families affected by type one diabetes in the San Bernardino Mountains. Dr. King completed a Master of Science (MS) in Clinical Research program at UCLA, where she defended her Master’s Thesis on her research project studying nutrient modulators of inflammation in obese adolescents. Dr. King began her post-training career practicing pediatric endocrinology at a private group practice (Mario Carcamo, MD, Inc) in Riverside in 2019.

She simultaneously joined the faculty at UC Riverside School of Medicine where she educates the medical students during their Endocrine block. In 2025, in an effort to offer expert, personalized care to children with diabetes and other endocrine disorders closer to her hometown of Claremont, Dr. King founded her business and private clinical practice based out of San Dimas, CA. She loves taking care of patients with diabetes and other endocrine conditions because she values the trusting relationships she builds over time with her patients’ families and because she appreciates staying on top of her field and learning new things every day! Outside of work, Dr. King is busy with her husband Justin and their four children, Lincoln, Gloria, Griffin, and Hope.
